Original Welsh Livery Cupboard dated 1715
Height 183 cm x Width 145 cm x Depth 49 cm
Here we a handsome Early 18th Century Welsh Livery Cupboard, hand carved with the date "1715" and the intials "M.J.H" on the top centre, with elbarote carved border, over a pair of panelled cupboard doors, the front is intricately inlaid with bog oak and chequered banding surrounding the outer edge upon a later lower shoe shelf -stand
The cupboard retains its original hinges, opening to reveal a large, spacious interior, with iron hanging hooks and a modern hanging rail to the top. The back and inside timbers are beautifully hand-scraped.
This special Livery Cupboard comes in two parts, making it easier to manoeuver. The top door section lifts off of the base shelf section.
The Welsh cupboard carries plenty of history, full of character and charm, and has been cleaned and polished, ready to make a standout addition to any hallway, bedroom, making it a great storage for coats, clothes and shoes.
Condition: The antique oak Welsh cupboard is structurally solid and sound, boasting its original patina, and has been cleaned and polished, ready to accentuate a hallway, bedroom used for coats and shoes, or in a kitchen. There is evidence of historic woodworm to the back, however, this is now long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. The base stand is a later modern edition.
