Diner Chairs: Height 94 cm x Depth 55 cm x Width 54 cm x Seat height 45 cm
Here we have a rare and important matching full set of 8 exceptional dining chairs by the renowned furniture makers Howard & Sons Ltd.
The exceptional quality chairs date back to the late 1800's, comprising two elbow chairs and six dining chairs, boasting outstanding craftsmanship paired with the highest quality materials.
Howard and Sons, the originator of quality furniture, is 200 years old. Yet their original sofas and chairs continue to have pride of place in the living rooms of royalty, celebrities, and those who know.
This rare and very special set of matching dining chairs are completely original and untouched, each with Georgian style vase-shaped splat back rests, with beautiful curved, dipped seats, upholstered in a wonderful deep forest green velvet, finishing with bronze studs, raised upon tapered forelegs and splayed back legs. The identification serial code stamp is on the back inside leg with the renowned name Howard and Sons Ltd and their address Berners St, stamped on the opposite back (inside) leg.
Condition: The Fine Quality Dining Chairs were acquired from a stately residence in Cheshire and are presented in excellent condition for their time; all joints are firm with no play. The legs have cosmetic scuffs and there is very slight sun-fading on the green velvet on one or two of the chairs, which tells a story and is part of the chair's historical journey. It is wonderful to see such well-kept chairs that are completely original and, untouched condition! The chairs have been cleaned and polished, ready for intentional use
