A beautiful and rare rustic antique pitch pine desk, handcrafted by Richard Smith- Smithy Gate Mill, Padiham, Lancashire, who was a joiner making and specializing in church and school furniture. The brass plaque, which reads “Richard Smith, Smithy Gate Mill, Padiham.”
This substantial school desk has a lift-up top over a pair of drawers, supported by solid, turned supports, retaining its original castors.
Retains its original pull handles and lockable key.
Condition: Excellent condition for its time. A structurally solid and substantial, very well-made desk.
Signs of cosmetic wear and tear, scratches ect that are all part of its character, charm, and historical life .
Signs of minor extinct woodworm, which has been treated as a precaution.
