I have a rare, historical and very beautiful (set of five altogether) Charles II walnut diner/side chairs (his and hers).
There are three chairs with coronet (crown) finials upon barley twist uprights and a rattan back panel, flanked by carved coronet (crown) and scroll detail above the upholstered woven medieval tapestry fabric with a leather strip studded trim seat, standing proud upon leaf carved front legs united by a conforming cross stretcher.
Along with a similar pair of 'Nell Gwyn' chairs x 2 but with a rose carved crest, barley twist supports and carved front cross stretcher.
There is a little historic woodworm on the walnut and there is evidence of some chairs having been professionally restored over the years as you expect with pieces this old however overall lovely condition and still very sturdy, solid high quality chairs that are set to last a few more hundred years!
NOTE; Charles II reputedly would not allow Nell Gwyn to sit on a chair carved with a crown crest.
