An elegant and finely detailed, quality parquetry -inlaid French, kingwood bonheur- du- jour.
The serpentine-shaped fall front top opens to reveal dovetailed drawers, with a boxwood border and a hidden secret compartment. The fall front top has been finely figural painted with intricate geometric parquetry inlay panels to the side and the front consists of boxwood inlay and rosewood, surrounded with beautiful feather banding throughout. The top of the bureau has the original intricate brass gallery all intact.
The whole bureau with extensive beautifully cast ormolu mounts supported on tapering cabriole legs with beautiful ormolu mounts and finishing in sabots.
There has been no expense spared to make this magnificent piece and this fine piece of furniture would cost a fortune with the materials and time used to make it today.
Comes with the original key.

This historical piece is all original and untouched and as you can see from pictures, it has been well-kept and polished throughout its time. Slight watermarks to the legs but very minor - Please see pictures for all minor imperfections.
