A rare and impressive late-Victorian Gillow & Co ebonised and inlaid Aesthetic Movement side cabinet, circa 1885. Retaining its maker’s mark, this exceptional cabinet has an arched mirror back with brass candle sconces and a central mask-head plaque, above a spindle gallery, shelf-lined display recess, curved mirrored side shelves and a lower cupboard with a richly inlaid decorative panel.

The combination of ebonised timber, warm burr-wood veneers, gilt linework, brass fittings and dramatic decorative trimming gives the cabinet exceptional presence. A highly unusual and well-preserved Gillow & Co piece, it would make an important focal point in a period or eclectic interior.
