Charming Jacobean-style oak geometric dresser
Width 112 cm x Depth 42 cm x Height 81 cm
Width between legs: width 99 cm x height 45 cm
Provenance: England
Date: 1860 C
Description:
This is a very pretty Jacobean-style oak geometric dresser console, in the early 17th-century geometric style, constructed during the Victorian period, circa 1860, and is in excellent condition. The Jacobean period stretched from 1603 to 1625 during the reign of James 1st. The dresser boasts lovely proportions and great craftsmanship, including a very good-quality double-moulded top. The front of the dresser features classic geometric mouldings to the drawer fronts, along with moulded inset side panels. The two large working drawers, which are butt-jointed, dovetailed and oak-lined, incorporate solid brass teardrop handles. The dresser is decorated with a shaped fretwork frieze and applied oval mouldings, and stands on turned legs, with stretchers uniting the front and rear legs for additional support. The backboards, inset side panels and drawer linings are constructed of solid oak.
This dresser features a mid-brown oak colour. It has a fantastic colour and patina, which can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
