Magnificent, English heavily carved oak bureau, there is a hand-carved date of 1770 on the front along with beautiful autumnal carvings of squirrels, acorns and leaves. There is a fall front that reveals a fitted interior, with lots of secret hide holes and compartments. This beautiful chest is not just a statement but a part of history that still functions as intended with great storage below; two short and three long carved drawers with original and beautiful brass handles and escutcheons set upon carved bracket feet.

Condition: Lovely condition for its time, structurally solid and sound.

There are signs of wear and tear, knocks and scratches that all add to the historical charm - please view all pictures.

There is evidence of an extinct historical woodworm towards the bottom of the bureau - see pictures.
